The Wedding Industry and COVID-19

As of March 15, 2020, The CDC has officially recommended the cancellation of weddings in the United States for eight weeks, or until mid May (read more here).

To a business driven by the wedding industry this is earth shattering news. To a bride who has spent months, maybe years, planning her wedding this is also earth shattering news.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken more than just our toilet paper. It has taken away everything we, as an industry, have worked so hard for. I can not tell you how many brides I have spoken with as they sobbed on the other end of the telephone, telling me they have to cancel. I reassure them we will work out the details and not to panic. I remain calm, confident that we can accomodate her, and encourage her. Once the phone hangs up, I myself sob. I cry for her because of all the work and the dreams that seem to be slipping away. I cry for myself and my family because this is how I support them. I get calls after calls from brides who's photographer can not reschedule them and they are in a panic.

"Whenever there is a problem, there is a solution to the problem." One thing I love about my community is their willingness to step up and help! There are hundreds of wedding vendors in Abilene, Texas offering to help brides affected by this pandemic. I am so sad that this has happened and I feel for every bride that has been forced to reschedule, however, we will not let this take us out. We will not fold nor give up! We will work together for the good of our community! I will make every effort to help in any way I can. We will find a solution to the problem! If you need recommendations for new vendors CONTACT ME!
